A place to learn, whenever you're ready

Sometimes you're not ready for a broker yet — you just want someone to explain how all of this works, kindly and without a sales pitch attached. That's what this is for.

Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most of us will ever make, and almost none of us were ever taught how it works. School didn't cover it, and while there's plenty of information out there, not all of it is written with you in mind.

So I share what I know — regularly, in plain English, and freely. Some of it is for people about to buy. Some is for people who bought years ago and haven't looked at their loan since. Quite a lot of it is for people who are simply curious, and that's lovely too.

And yes, I'd genuinely love to work with you one day. I'll be honest though: I'm not the right broker for everybody, and that's completely all right. But if what you're looking for is someone who'll sit on your side of the table, explain things properly, stay calm through the wobbly bits and still be here in three years' time — then I think we'd get along rather well. The right people have a way of finding each other.

Where it happens

Follow along

Short, practical and regular — the things I wish more people had been told earlier. No hard sell, and no pretending any of this is simpler than it really is.

Education, not advice

The sort of thing I cover

For people just starting out

What a deposit actually needs to be, what LMI is and when it's worth paying, how lenders read your spending, and the difference between what a calculator says and what a lender will do.

For people who already have a loan

What happens when a fixed rate ends, how offset accounts really work, when refinancing is worth the trouble and when it isn't, and how to read your own loan statement.

For business owners and the self-employed

How lenders assess business income, why your accountant's tax planning and your loan application sometimes pull in opposite directions, and what to prepare.

Things nobody warns you about

Settlement-day surprises, the costs that aren't in the headline number, and the small decisions early on that quietly limit your options later.

Everything I share publicly is general information. It can't take your circumstances into account, because I don't know them — so please treat it as a starting point for a conversation rather than a recommendation about what you should do.
Coming

A few things I'm building towards

Workshops & Q&As

Free first home buyer sessions and refinance clinics, run in person around the Peninsula and online. When the first one is scheduled it will be announced here and on Instagram.

In the works

The blog

Longer pieces on the questions that don't fit in a social post — properly researched, and updated when the rules change.

In the works

The podcast

Conversations with the other people in the transaction — conveyancers, buyers advocates, accountants, valuers — about what they wish clients knew earlier.

In the works

Client stories will appear here too, once I have written permission from the people in them. Nobody's situation goes on this website without them saying yes first.

Got a question you'd like answered?

Send it through. If it's a good one — and most are — I'll answer it properly, and it'll probably become a post that helps someone else too.
